The Story Behind Our Brand

The Inspiration Behind Peela

The Struggle Was Real - As a Muslim woman, I faced a common challenge wanting to enjoy beautifully painted nails without compromising my spiritual obligations. Traditional nail polishes often conflicted with religious practices such as wudhu and ghusl, which require complete nail cleanliness. Additionally, harsh chemicals and difficult removal methods posed risks to sensitive skin and nail health. This unmet need inspired me to create Peela, a non-toxic, peelable nail polish that offers women like me the freedom to express themselves while honouring their faith and values.

It's more than just non-toxic peel-able nail polish; it's about peace of mind: knowing you can enjoy beauty without sacrificing your spiritual obligations and understanding the importance of efficiency when there’s multiple chores to do in daily life. Peela offers a swift and simple solution to all key workers in healthcare and childcare, who require quick, hygienic solutions; mothers and children looking for safe, fun products; people with sensitive skin or brittle nails seeking gentle alternatives; as well as models and beauty professionals needing fast, clean nail colour changes.

A Fear I Couldn't Ignore

For my Muslim sisters, I understand the importance of prayer and the need to perform ablution (Wudhu) and full body purification (Ghusl). peela offers a convenient solution that allows you to express your style while honoring your faith. A major fear of mine with regular nail polish was the thought of passing away with it on. Yes, regular nail polish can be removed with acetone. However, the body is so fragile at the time of death, it could be a great struggle and could cause harm to the body. The thought of being buried with even the slightest possibility of incomplete body purification (Ghusl) due to not being able to remove ALL of the polish is terrifying. With peela, you can confidently maintain your religious obligations, simply lift an edge, and effortlessly peel-it away! Wipe any residue off, then both ablution and full body purification can be done confidently and correctly!

(NOTE: I DO NOT advise nor agree with performing ablution with painted nails, ALWAYS remove).
